Hustle Hard... Closed mouths dont get fed...

Whoa!  My New York trip was a real grind.  I had to work hard, walk fast and rip every mic I touched.  NC is still and will always be an artists playground but that shit is no joke.  So I did what I had to do, beat the streets like a pure beast.  I am exhausted.  I get back home to my "normal" life of laundry, dinner, my full time wireless gig, helping with homework, and princess tea parties. Did I mention that I am exhausted?  I took a vacation from my real work to work even harder.  Now as I prepare for the ASCAP I Create Music Expo in LA next month I am concentrating on sharpening my focus and articulating exactly what I want for my career.  I really don't want to get in front of movers and shakers and sound like a complete idiot. While I get ready for that adventure I have a few local events in store.  I just recently played the SWAN Day Spoken Soul Festival as one of the featured artists.  From the CD sales and audience response I will safely assume I did pretty well on stage.  I sold out of CD's that night.

My next performance is scheduled for tomorrow as The Bohemia Room presents To Her with Love a mixer and poetry event in conjunction with Tracy Mourning's Honey Child Charity and co-hosted by my boo Ingrid B and The Ethnicity Models.  It promises to be a fabulous affair and I get to share the stage with the Miami Divas of Spoken Word: Mori Tiye, Poettis, Red Writing Hood, Flow Diva and Amali.  I am excited to share for this inspiring and uplifting event.  Other than that I may hit a few open mics just to see what's popping on the scene before I hit the City of Angels.  I know that I have a lot on my plate but I plan on pacing myself and gobbling it all up, even if I have to stop for an occasional nap.

Mahagani

Finally after months of working and striving I am ready to share my work with the world in through my CD Mahagani which features live and studio recordings. I am very proud of this work and I look forward to sharing it with those who have an ear to listen. I can recall with ease bursting into tears in the studio because this project has been a long time comin' and I am confident that this will define a new era for my work and my craft as a writer and artists. The keen discernment I am able to apply today was almost non-existent back when I first began this journey in 2001. I am grateful for the eye to see bullshit and spray my repellent with ease. I have learned to fux with those who fux with me and keep it moving on those who don't. So if you are ready to join me on this adventure please go ahead and pre-order my CD Mahagani starting Feb 28, 2013 (and I have great gifts  for my first 50 pre-orders) www.maha-adachi.com or meet me out in the streets at one of my shows and cop one face-to-face. This Thursday I will be performing in the RAW Artists
Miami Discovery Showcase. www.rawartists.org/Miami I am really excited about this event because I will also be playing another one of their showcases in Los Angeles later this year. More details to come.... Next week I will be officially selling Mahagani on March 6, 2013 at the best spot in Miami: The Bohemia Room. That night will feature Teedra Moses, Tasha Jones (one of my fav poets) and Dasha Kelly. Get your tickets now: www.thebohemiaroom.com See ya soon!

Stay Focused, Keep Working, Have Fun

Hey Lovely People! Hapi Nu Year. As the grind continues I proceed in my plight to sew seeds in the game, work the fields, and harvest my fruit. I have many submissions for MAJOR performance oppotunities going out this week. I remain confident in the "product" I am pushing so I know some good call backs will pop off soon. After a recording session an opportunity arose for me to give voiceover work a try and I went for it. It felt natural, easy, and I was good and clear. I am glad this avenue has opened up and I will travel this path as often as I can. I love the facts that it is something that comes so natural to me and requires almost no effort to do well. I can dig that. A lil' side hustle can't hurt too bad. So, on deck for January-- January 16th is the 11th anniversary of The Bohemia Room and the theme is "Brother to the Night" The MIC will be all the way live with Asia, Truth B Told, hosted by Dichotomy.
January 18th we're celebrating my King and for his Bornday we will be joining the B-Side Crew hitting the Tony Rock comedy show at the Improv and then partying it up at the new Saturday Night jump off at Love Hate. It promises to be a fab night as Tony is funny as heck and Love Hate is hella fun on Saturday nights now...
In addition to beginning to market my new project Mahagani which will be available next month I will also be featuring at an even in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr in Palm Beach: MosArt Mondays "It's a Poetry Thing", Monday, January 21, 2013, 7:30 - 9:30 pm, 700 Park Avenue, Lake Park, FL 33403 I'm enjoying the ride keeping my main goals in focus. 2013 has started out with the same consistent growth that I maintained in the 4th quarter and it feels good. Now I just have to get geared up for some more picts, spend more time and energy networking and make sure I always take time to cuddle with my husband and children.
