Whoa! My New York trip was a real grind. I had to work hard, walk fast and rip every mic I touched. NC is still and will always be an artists playground but that shit is no joke. So I did what I had to do, beat the streets like a pure beast. I am exhausted. I get back home to my "normal" life of laundry, dinner, my full time wireless gig, helping with homework, and princess tea parties. Did I mention that I am exhausted? I took a vacation from my real work to work even harder. Now as I prepare for the ASCAP I Create Music Expo in LA next month I am concentrating on sharpening my focus and articulating exactly what I want for my career. I really don't want to get in front of movers and shakers and sound like a complete idiot. While I get ready for that adventure I have a few local events in store. I just recently played the SWAN Day Spoken Soul Festival as one of the featured artists. From the CD sales and audience response I will safely assume I did pretty well on stage. I sold out of CD's that night.
My next performance is scheduled for tomorrow as The Bohemia Room presents To Her with Love a mixer and poetry event in conjunction with Tracy Mourning's Honey Child Charity and co-hosted by my boo Ingrid B and The Ethnicity Models. It promises to be a fabulous affair and I get to share the stage with the Miami Divas of Spoken Word: Mori Tiye, Poettis, Red Writing Hood, Flow Diva and Amali. I am excited to share for this inspiring and uplifting event. Other than that I may hit a few open mics just to see what's popping on the scene before I hit the City of Angels. I know that I have a lot on my plate but I plan on pacing myself and gobbling it all up, even if I have to stop for an occasional nap.
